I’d hazard a guess that there isn’t a person over the age of say, 21 or so, that hasn’t been through at least one painful break up in their life. Heck, I’ve been through a few and I’m not that much older than that.
So I know where you’re coming from right now, believe me.
Now, there are a ton of articles and advice columns and “Dear Abby” type touchy feely, sit on my couch and pay me a hundred dollars an hour solutions for getting over a breakup. I’ve read enough of them to basically be an expert on all the tips and feel good tactics you can use to get out of your funk and start feeling better.
But I’m not here to pretend to be Oprah. And here’s why:
If you ask me, the best way to get over a break up is to reverse the break up in the first place.
What am I talking about?
Well, what if I told you that it’s actually possible no, PROBABLE that you can actually convince your ex that they made the wrong decision in breaking up with you in the first place?
And it doesn’t require groveling, or begging, or constant phone calls (you haven’t done the whole “drunk dialing” thing, have you?), text messaging or any other lame tactic a future stalker might employ.
In fact, getting over a breakup and convincing your ex to get back together is one of the easier things to do IF you know what to say, when to say it, and how to start acting as soon as possible.
Plus, you get to keep your dignity the whole time. And what’s more, it will actually be your ex that comes up with the idea of getting back together.
Yep, you heard that right. Your ex will come back to you and actually ask to get back together.

Now, this is of course assuming that you want to get back together with your ex. Let’s assume that you do, since if you didn’t, you wouldn’t need all that much help in getting over the break up, would you?
Okay, so let’s get into that...
The first thing I want you to realize is that human nature basically REQUIRES someone to resist and dig in when their ideas are opposed. You know how this is because you see it every day.
How many times have you been in an argument with someone and refused to admit you were wrong, even though maybe some doubt started to creep in that the other person had a good point?
How many times did your ex do that when you were still together? If you’re anything like most couples, plenty of times.
So, what you need to do is to understand how your ex is thinking to really get inside his or head and then use that as a sort of mental jiu jitsu (it’s like karate, look it up) to completely turn the tables and make them come up with the idea themselves that breaking up isn’t the right decision.
See what’s happening?
You’re not disagreeing with them anymore. They have no reason to dig in and stick to their position. The way the mind works means that they’ll eventually come around to the way you want them to think, but they’ll think it was their idea the whole time.
Now the techniques for doing this are NOT hard anyone can learn them. But there are some specific steps you need to take to make it work. Unfortunately these are a bit beyond the scope of this article.
