Photographs and negatives are a few of our most cherished possessions. They write a story of our lives and adventures we've been on. They preserve the faces of our friends who have died .They hold each year of our children lives. It is awfully distressing to see that our images and negatives have suffered fire damage.

Folks are desperate to know if there is any possibility that these precious life memory preservers can be saved. If this disaster has taken place the first thing you ought to do is telephone a photographic restoration specialist, and if possible one who is experienced with fire damage restoration. Schedule a time to bring the photos and negatives to the fire damage restoration expert as rapidly as you can. The more the photographs remain like this the added the fire damage they will suffer.

Photo negatives are damaged by the warmth of a fire. When too hot the emulsion on a negative that holds the picture gets gluey. It will adhere to any surface it makes contact with. The emulsion might crack, deform, or shrink after undergoing fire damage. Color can change their color or become pale. Black and white negatives are not as likely to become lighter. Handle the negatives with caution while transferring them after the fire damage as they will scratch very easily. Filth and larger pieces of remains will attach to a heated negative many times getting permanently embedded in the negative.

Pictures are also damaged by the temperature from a blaze. If the heat of the flames are hot enough the base of the picture will burn up. The chemical layer on the photograph will get gummy and adhere to any other surface it touches Images piled together will be stuck together. If the photos are in a book don't attempt to remove them. Fire damaged images may be marked very easily when handled. When the coating is hot and tacky soot soot particles can become implanted in the picture and the acidic quality of the soot can damage and modify the colors in a print. The more the soot is touching the photo the more significantly it will damage the photo. If water comes into contact with the print the coating will get gelatin- like and attach to additional photographs or something else. Do not try to pull the pictures apart because the coat will come off thus taking away a piece of the image from the photograph.

If the pictures are soaked, from water damage leave them in plastic bags and freeze them until you can get them until you have a chance to get them to the photographic restoration professional. If they are dry transfer them from the fire damaged spot and keep them safe and secure until they will be brought to be restored. The fire damage restoration specialist might be able to wash and restore several of the negatives and photographs. Once the professional has restored the prints as much as possible there may be various pictures that are merely partly restored. There might be portions of the images that are absent from the picture.

Software can repair the absent portions of the images. The picture can be scanned, the missing recreated, and a new photo made that has the full image. This is wonderful information for all the people that cherishes their pictures.
