Swollen joints are most often the byproduct of a joint injury and usually occur because of a small amount of internal bleeding. This internal bleeding stretches the skin and the surrounding tissue. Old injuries can also cause swollen joints because of fluids that build up in the joint.

What are the symptoms of Swollen Joints?

Swollen joints are often accompanied by pain and sometimes bruising. The swollen joint area will also feel warm to the touch. In many cases, an old joint injury can flare up and swell from collected fluids that have gathered in the joint area. Do joints act as a barometer? They sure do, as the joint injuries can respond to barometric pressure due to weather changes. Now, if a joint is not only just swollen but is red and/or hot to the touch, it is inflamed. The inflammation could be due to a bacteria, virus or fungus attacking the joint which results in infection. If symptoms of inflammation is accompanied by fever and chills and/or lasts for more than a week, or the joint has been punctured, see your health care provider immediately, as these can be signs of a serious condition.

What are the causes of Swollen Joints?

Swollen and painful joints can have multiple causations, some of which can be extremely serious, and in some cases, life threatening. Degenerative or autoimmune processes such as Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis can greatly affect the joints causing them to swell. This is usually a chronic occurrence. When swollen joints become acute, it should be looked at right away, as this could be indicative of an infection. Prompt attention can prevent permanent disability. Although swollen joints can be caused by injuries, it is always helpful to get an examination to rule out a multitude of ailments such as arthritis, gout and tendonitis. In most instances, swollen joints will be caused by a form of arthritis, the most common being Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid arthritis. Less typical causes include infectious diseases like influenza, hepatitis and chickenpox.

Will Painwave X4000 Help with Swollen Joints?

Yes! The Painwave X4000 is a non invasive, drug free method of relief that is absolutely perfect for the treatment of swollen joints. Unlike TENS or other similar methods of pain relief it does not ‘block’ pain receptors, rather, it works in concert with the body’s own bioelectromagnetic ecosystem. The Painwave X4000 has no side effects and is very easy to use. Simply move the unit gently over the surface of the skin in a small circular motion for effective pain elimination. After chronic, long term use, the Painwave X4000 will improve circulation, increase cell activity and aid lymphatic movements, which is beneficial in the relief of pain and other discomforts. In many cases, this stimulation will greatly reduce or eliminate pain permanently.
