Losing Weight On A Free Diet Program

With all of the people out there trying to lose weight, it is no surprise that weight loss programs collect a lot of money. Most diet programs involve some kind of fee. NutriSlim, Jenny Craig, and the Atkins Diet all require consumers to pay. In some cases cost comes from buying food. In other cases dieters buy a book that tells them how to lose weight. It is difficult to find a truly free diet program.

The best way to find free diet programs is to go to a government webpage. It will often have a public health page. This page might have recommendations for living healthy. Certainly it will have tips for losing weight. A hospital or medical center might also have a page dedicated to weight loss. This is because of the overweight epidemic present around the world.

Sometimes you will find a program online that offers free dieting advice. If you are lucky, it might also provide a program for you to follow. It would probably give you a list of acceptable foods to choose from. It might allow you to count saturated fats. And cholesterol. Knowing these totals can give you a good guideline to follow.

You can invent your own free diet program with relatively little problem. First, visit your doctor. Tell her that you are thinking of starting a diet and exercise regiment. She can give you an alert if you have high blood pressure or high cholesterol. Knowing this information will help you plan calorie consumption and percentages. For example, if you have high blood pressure, you will want to follow a low sodium diet. High cholesterol? Keep on eye on saturated fats and cholesterol numbers.

Once you begin a diet, it is important to stick to it. Give yourself three weeks to get used to eating differently. Remember, a habit takes that long to be broken. Since eating badly is a habit, you will have to re train yourself to eat. Prohibit pointless snacking. Lay off the potato chips and soda. While you don t have to give these foods up forever, you will want to limit their consumption until you have learned not to gorge on them.

A free diet program doesn t necessarily lead to weight loss. And just because a plan has a fancy name does not mean it is legitimate. Fad diets abound. These are diets that promise quick weight loss with little or no effort. Many of them also encourage you to eat only a few foods. The Cabbage Soup Diet is one such program. It claims that you will lose ten pounds in the one week program. Unfortunately, this weight loss is nothing but water. After you stop the diet, it comes right back. Not only that, but it can take whatever optimism you have and steal it away. You will begin to doubt if anything will work. Fad diets are counterproductive to your efforts. While many of them have been exposed and discarded, others are still touting weight loss. The Atkins diet is one example. It is still popular, but has been scrutinized by doctors. It has been found that dieters are eating more fatty foods on this plan than they would without it.
