Do you know what a lot of water can do to metal? Too much water can damage the surface of the metal by rusting it and making it weak. Metal has to be dried off with a dry rag or a cloth so it will not cause damage. When you have metal cooking sheets, you need to dry them off so the water does not set on it and rust the surface of the sheets. If you have rust on them, you will notice that it is brown and rough. This means your cooking sheets are ruined. Water does not damage it if you are washing it or if it is raining. It only happens if it sets on there for a long time or if it is setting outside too long in the rain and the cold.
If it gets wet and sets on something for a couple of days, it will leave a ring of rust on any surface it is on, and it can be really hard to get out or you might not get it out at all. When rust forms, it builds up. The more water damage there is, the more rust there will be and it can go up and all over the can as well and it also can damage steel, too. When you brush off the rust or scrub it off, there will be thin pieces of the metal scattered everywhere, and the surface that was there will be gone. Things that will rust metal pipes, tools, vehicles, chains, bars, and grills. These are just some of the things that can rust and that you have to replace. The rust can be so bad that it can go right through the metal and that is dangerous to have around.
If you don't want this to happen to your stuff, then you need to put it in a dry place like a shed or garage. You can put a cover over it and if there is a cover over it, put it under the carport, if you have one that is. When there is rust on them, it can break or not work by not turning. If you have rusty bolts, they can be very hard to get off. It will be like it is nailed on there and when you try to get it off, you can strip the bolt and it can break your tools. Too much water is not good for these things so put them away so they are still in good condition.
