If you have water coming from your ceiling that is leaking into your house, it is caused by water damage. Too much water damage can rot your ceiling, making it bow and fall apart. The wood on your roof can be rotted and that is why you have water coming into your house. When that happens, mold can set in, which makes it worse. You will have to fix your roof or put up a whole new roof. Not only that, but you will have to fix up your ceiling as well. This damage cost you a lot of money in repairs, and you will need to have insurance for water damage. If you do have insurance, make sure it covers things like this.
This water damage causes mold and that causes toxins to get into your home that can affect your family. As you put off fixing it, the water damage can get worse and the mold can spread, causing even more unwanted damage to your home. Did you know that it can cave in if the rotting gets too bad because your roof is weak? Have you even seen a damaged roof? Well, it can look black all over and big pieces of wood will either be missing or falling off. It can also have holes in it that you can break it apart with your bear hands. That is how bad it can be or how bad it can get, and you will have problems.
Water damage can make water leak down the walls, out of the light fixtures, between the cracks in the ceiling, around the smoke alarms, or drip right through the drywall depending if it is weak in that spot. It stains it and turns it brown and makes it wet in that area, and when this happens you will have to replace it with new drywall. First, you will need to tear off the roof and tear out the ceiling next because you don't want your new drywall to get wet. This way, it is dry for you to work in and so your drywall for your ceiling will stay dry for when you put it up. You will need to change your insulation because there will be damage to it, too, and you don't want that in your house. Mold can also be in the insulation so watch out for that. Be careful on what you are doing so no one will get hurt.
