The fire is an element that has always been with us, of use to us and even of intimidation to us. Indeed, the fire can be mans best ally or best enemy. However, we would explore first how it is useful for humanity. The very first useful thing that I can think of when it comes to fire is for cooking. We prefer not to eat our food raw, and for this fire are very useful. We see fire burning in the stoves of our homes while our mothers are cooking dinner and eventually we smell the delicious flavor of food. Another very significant use of fire is in keeping us warm during moments of cold. In camps and in organizations lie the boy scouts and the girls scouts, one of the first things that they are taught is how to make fire. Having a season such as the winter, it is then no surprise that many American household have fireplaces.

Fireplaces are those that one puts in a particular room in the house, most often the living room, to hold and maintain fire when the need arises. Many years back, the fireplace was the primary and most important source of heat for most American household. Today, that has changed with the ever-progressing technology that we have. The fireplaces have now been replaced by electronic and centralized heater, but most American homes have not discarded their fireplaces. In fact, fireplaces now have a new home purpose: for aesthetic appeal. Of course, fireplaces are not without their accessories. One of the most important and appealing of these accessories is what is called as the fireplace screens. The fireplace screens are those that are put in front of a fireplace hearth to serve as shield, or in the case nowadays, an added appeal to the fireplace.

Fireplace screens: why you should have them.

The necessity side
Fireplace screens are considered to be a necessary accessory for fireplaces, especially for those fireplaces that are still active and functional in ones home. Fireplace screens were created to as a shield and protection; they kept the smoke and ashes that were produced from the fire flames from coming into the part of the room beyond the interior of the fire place. This makes the room clean, providing people with no hassle to clean it up after the fireplace has been used. The fireplace screen also controls the full blast of heat that comes from the fire burning inside the fireplace, enabling people to huddle closer to the fireplace with no worries. You can drink coffee and chat with your family without worrying whether it will become too hot or if embers will come flying out of the fireplace, that is what fireplace screens can offer for necessity.

The aesthetic side
If in the past fireplaces were considered to be a practical and necessary addition to the home, now it is mostly seen for its potential aesthetic contribution to the home. This is because of the emergence of electronic heaters; people find it more convenient and a lot easier to cater to these heaters than to maintain a fireplace. With the aesthetic overturn of fireplaces, so have the fireplace screens. Now, there are various materials, designs and styles available for fireplace screens. They are now being used to accessorize and emphasize the beauty of a households fireplace.

Fireplace screens, like fireplaces, have indeed evolved from a source of shield to a source of a homes beauty and warmth.
